Quick answer: Choose a starting unit and a target unit, then enter a value. Common conversions: 1 bar = 14.50377 psi; 1 Pa = 0.001 kPa; 1 Pa = 0.00001 bar. This converter covers 11 pressure units.

Use the Pressure Converter

Pressure formula and what each symbol means

target = value × (factor of starting unit ÷ factor of target unit), where each factor is the unit value in Pa.

Symbols used in the formula
SymbolMeaning
valueThe number you want to convert
factorThe unit’s size expressed in the base unit (Pa)

Pressure examples

bar to psi

10 bar = 145.0377 psi.

Pa to kPa

10 Pa = 0.01 kPa.

Pa to bar

10 Pa = 0.0001 bar.

How to calculate Pressure step by step

  1. Choose the starting unit and the target unit.
  2. Enter your value.
  3. Read the converted value, plus the conversion factor in both directions.

How to read your Pressure result

The pascal is the SI unit, but gauges use bar, psi, atmospheres or mmHg depending on the field. One standard atmosphere is exactly 101,325 Pa, and one bar is exactly 100,000 Pa.

Common mistakes when calculating Pressure

  • Treating gauge pressure and absolute pressure as the same: absolute pressure equals gauge plus atmospheric pressure.
  • Using 1 bar = 1 atm: they differ by about 1.3%.
  • Reading mmHg and Torr as clearly different units: they differ by only about one part in seven million.

Pressure FAQ

How many psi are in 1 bar?

1 bar is about 14.5038 psi.

How many pascals are in 1 atm?

One standard atmosphere is exactly 101,325 pascals.

Is mmHg the same as torr?

For practical purposes, yes. The two differ by only about 0.00001%.

What is the base unit for pressure?

This converter uses pascal (Pa) as the common base unit: every value is first converted to it and then to the target unit.

How do I convert between two pressure units?

Choose the starting and target units, enter the value and read the result. By hand: convert to the base unit with the table, then divide by the target unit factor.

How many PSI are in 1 bar?

1 bar = 14.50377 psi.

How many kPa are in 1 pascal?

1 Pa = 0.001 kPa.

How many bar are in 1 pascal?

1 Pa = 0.00001 bar.

Which pressure units does this converter support?

It covers 11 units: pascal (Pa), kilopascal (kPa), megapascal (MPa), bar (bar), millibar (mbar), standard atmosphere (atm), pound per square inch (psi), torr (Torr), millimeter of mercury (mmHg), inch of mercury (inHg), kilogram-force per square centimeter (kgf/cm²).

How accurate is the pressure converter?

Results are calculated at full double precision and shown to about 8 significant figures. Round the answer to the precision of your original measurement; a result cannot be more accurate than the number you started with.
